Alok Subash Kujur: Chandipur Beach

It was last year’s summers when for the first time I visited the chandipur beach. Its an amazing place to visit. It is situated at the north eastern part of Orissa in balasore district. It is a famous place in india. Coz it’s the only place where india test its all missile. An awesome place a must visit. And its beach has a very nice n unique specialty.

I was at that time working in a national based NGO. And we had lots of work. After the hard working for 6 days a week we all means me and my colleagues get tired. So one day we decided to go to chandipur beach. It was hardly 60 km away from our place udala. So it was 2 hours of journey. So on a Sunday we all got ready and we started our journey by our bike to the chandipur. From udala to chandipur via remuna and balasore. We have to drive through a river side which is great to see. The road was at the edge of the river like if the water from the river exceeds the water will come to the road. The scene was so beautiful. Then in between a forest was there and which was famous for bear and elephant attacking. And we all were scared by seeing that jungle, it was so dense. Then we came to remuna the highway cross through it. Loved to watch such a busy route. And then we came to balasore, what a beautiful town it is. We ride there for some time and then we headed towards the chandipur which was 15 km away from there. And the road was so nice, smooth the bike was going like its on the butter. So within 30 minutes we were there at the chandipur beach.

I and debu sir reached the beach, it was like 4 pm and tapan sir was a bit late, he was to see us there on the beach at 6 pm. And we were there on the beach already so what to do now. We had some soft drinks, some chana n mudhi. And then we decided to go on to the sea. Well it’s the right time to reveal about the unique specialty of the beach. So the specialty is….. at the day time the water of the sea go backwards upto 5 kms and at evening at 8 pm the water of the sea comes to the cost. And it happens daily. Another specialty of its is here there is no big tides were there. Only smooth sea water will come and go. You will just enjoy the beauty of nature. It was the first time I was watching such a geographical occurring. In contrast to puri beach where water is near the cost, not so deep but still the big big tides striking the cost, here at chandipur no water from 12 to 6 pm on the cost. Then from 6pm to 8pm the water will start to return. And slowly slowly it touches the cost.

So we decided to go to the sea. And the water was very far away. I told sir that we will touch the sea water n come. Then I n debu sir started walking in the sea towards the water which was almost invisible from cost. After walking some distance my feet started to pain. The sand of the beach was so tight feeling like I was walking on the rock and I was bare foot. I have a maza bottle on my back pocket and mudhi in my hand. And I started walking towards the water. From the top of the cost it was looking that yes the water is close we can manage, but when we came down to the cost and started walking It seems quite difficult as my leg was not so good n had to walk so much of distance. The breeze was so high. The air was striking on my face, my hairs were all scattered the hairstyle was gone bad. After 30 minutes of walk we get to the water finally and the water was returning to the cost slowly. We had taken some pics there. And enjoyed I sang song there and shouted very loudly at the sea, drank all the mango juice and thrown it to the sea. And we came back as the sea water was coming too fast it had come to my knees height.

Along the smooth breeze at the middle of the sea water I felt the happiness of witnessing such a great thing, I looked back and the shore was so far away from us like 3-4 kms away. The weather was so romantic. For a moment I look down and smile. The reason was at that time I remember the one I love, thought if she would be here with me it would be so great, I would had my hands on her hands and in this awesomic place on this amazing weather we were walking, looking at each other and sharing a smile. Thinking about her I was returning with my colleague. While the shore was about 500 mts away I suddenly heard a voice of a girl, she was talking on her cell phone and was shouting I LOVE YOU…. She said this 4 times… and that too so loudly I was about 80-90 mts away from her but still was able to hear her voice so clearly. When I first get that voice of saying I love you I look out for the person who was saying it and then a very pleasant smile came to my face, I saw the girl and smiled. I was feeling so loved at that time. I was happy to see that girl that she is in love and expressing her love towards her beloved loudly. For a while I was jealous also, thought why it is not happening with me. But then again love is the gift of god which is not achievable. At least god has not gifted me by the word LOVE.

So after sometime we were at the shore and put on our shoes and tapan sir also had come at that time we had little chat there, all were checking out the girls, specially me ha ha ha ha ha. Looking at them constantly and smiling like crazy, doing fultoo masti. Then tapan sir asked to me about the tide. I told him that water here is this silent and here there is no tide. He was like fuck this place. No tide here, what is a beach without the high tides, he told us to get out of that place. But then we sat at a bench there near to the shore eating some ice cream. It was about to 7pm and we were feeling hungry. And from there we went to the river side town of chandipur to see the place. And when we enter the place it smelled like fish. All there was fish fish n fish. You will find only fish there and yes of course the ice factory big big bar of ice. Seen some big fishing boats also, I told tapan sir I wanna go in the fishing boats and watch live fishing. Had a great time that day. At 8 pm came back to the beach had dinner and headed back towards our centre.
